"'O' God: A Dialogue on Truth and Oprah's Spirituality provides an in-depth look at the controversial spiritual beliefs of one of the greatest media influences of all time: Oprah.

Between The Oprah Winfrey Show, O Magazine and her national webinars on faith, millions are being exposed to Oprah's splintered beliefs. As many exit the doors of traditional religion, the church of Oprah has become a viable alternative to a world looking for a savior—but without the strings. Christians and those of other faiths are asking the nagging question: “Where do Oprah’s teachings lead?” In "O" God, mega-bestselling Christian author and evangelist Josh McDowell teams up with Dave Sterrett, a gifted writer and popular speaker. Together, they provide a cutting-edge response to popular inquiries about Oprah's spiritual teaching and the advice of the colorful teachers she promotes.

...while appearing to use Christian and inclusive language that at first seems similar to that of Christianity, Oprah teaches a message that is radically different and absolutely contrary to the true teaching of Scripture...

'The danger is that while appearing to use Christian and inclusive language that at first seems similar to that of Christianity, Oprah teaches a message that is radically different and absolutely contrary to the true teaching of Scripture and historic Christianity,' McDowell and Sterrett warn." Can you think of someone who would benefit from reading this book?

I can't think of anyone who subscribes to Oprah's belief system, per se, but her type of belief is pervasive in today's society. I'm thinking of e-mail forwards containing "Christian" messages with new age twists and that sort of thing. It is so sad to see people exchange the Truth (as in the Way, the Truth, and the Light) for a lie. I'd love to try and pick up a copy of that book.

Oh yes, I can definitely know of someone who completely subscribes to this belief system...I had no idea about this book. Very interesting!! Thank you!

One person comes immediately to mind, but I sure wouldn't mind reading it myself. Personally I can't stomach the woman.

A superb post! It's frightening to think about how many people follow false teaching. I think it'll make an enlightening read for myself as I'm not really sure what Oprah's teaching.

I feel like everyone probably knows someone who really wants to believe and live Oprah's way. I thought of a close relative immediately. She is always preaching Oprah at me, he he he... I know her desire is to be everyone's bestest friend and she see's Oprah's religion as the way to do that while appearing to have religion. It is an issue and so strange...

April: Yes, New Age thought is pervasive in our society. The trouble is, it sounds so good. But when you hold it up to Scripture, it's totally anti-Gospel. I'm glad you know the difference. :~D

Tara: If you can get this book to your friend, that would be great. Sometimes people are more receptive to a book than our words of truth. God bless you in your witnessing.

Bobbi: Very cool. I hope your friend rejects the lies that Oprah is (perhaps unknowingly) teaching, and takes the truth of the Gospel to heart.

A Stone Gatherer: By all means get the book, if you would like some clarification of Oprah's belief system.

Andrea: Wonderful. Do investigate Oprah's spiritual teaching. She's so pervasive, that you're bound to run into more than one person who would benefit from hearing the truth from you.

Mac an Rothaich: So you have a relative who preaches Oprah at you? How do you counter her? Are you effective? Thanks for stopping by today. :~D
