What a lovely post! I was thinking along these same lines this weekend. We had our annual pastor appreciation dinner and as I shopped for cards for the two pastors, I picked one up for our assistant pastor's wife as well. She teaches full time and has a 3 year old and an 10 week old.
Great post! So often pastor's wives are overlooked. Yet, they are serving right along side their husband and are often under extreme scrutiny. May we remember to show them just how much we appreciate them. Thanks for the great reminder today!
These are great suggestions, e-Mom, but pastor's wives often feel set apart from the people they minister to, put on a pedestal. I think the best gift we can give them is to talk to them like real people, get to know them personally, ask them about themselves. Pastor's wives often do a lot of listening. Perhaps they'd like to be heard too.
Nice!
And I do need a new crockpot in case our church members come in here. lol
My husband came home from church yesterday with a hundred dollar bill from a member for pastor appreciation month. We forgot that was this month. My husband gives me those money gifts and I hide it all in one place and when we are wanting something or need cash for taking a little trip, I am always surprised at how it's added up. It's a treat to be able to have little extras sometimes.
Thank you e-mom, you're the best! The pictures of the flower cupcakes are so cute too. Love your pics, always. (and I know it takes a lot of time to find them)
great list....thanks for the reminders about clergy appreciation month. our pastor is so humble, and doesn't seem to like 'praise" or attention drawn to him (unlike some we have had in the past!) that our church really doesn't do anything to acknowledge this "holiday'....but...I might try a couple of these things on your ist for his wife! :) blessings....
some great ideas..
a card
some flowers...
April: Bless you for remembering your two pastors and the young pastor's wife as well. :~D
Alicia: You're welcome. Thanks for your comment. :~D
TamiB: You ought to know! Thanks for your wise words: I think the best gift we can give them is to talk to them like real people, get to know them personally, ask them about themselves. So, I'm listening... anything especially pressing on your mind today??? :~D
Crickl: A new crockpot, eh? Well then, I'll see what I can do... :~D
Lovely that someone gave you two a nice cash gift. Good idea to hide it and save it for a "rainy day."
Glad you like my photos! Someone else remarked on the cupcakes too.
Faith: I understand how your pastor doesn't want to draw attention to himself. It would be nice if you could bless his wife. I'm sure he would feel affirmed by association. :~D
Amydeanne: Yes, cards and flowers, always welcome by most women. :~D
GREAT ideas!!! We have three pastor's wives in our church (I am the youth pastor's wife) and I LOVE this time of year because it is so nice to know that people do appreciate your husband and all the hard work he does. Not that they don't get told every now and then, but especially noting what they do for our church is great. I am so thankful for our pastor's! What great men God has blessed us with!!!
All you Ladies, keep encouraging your pastors and their wives-it means so very very much!!!
Blessings!
Gina
Gina: Amen. Thanks for telling it like it is... that you and your (pastor) husband need encouragement--all year long! I'm glad there's a special time of year just for you, though. Thanks for stopping by. I'm looking forward to getting to know you better. :~D
