New Movie Exposes the Censorship of Leading Evolutionists

On Friday April 18, 2008 a startling feature documentary will be opening in theatres across America. Starring Ben Stein as host, "Expelled.
No Intelligence Allowed
"
reveals how freedom of speech, thought, and inquiry are being quashed by the publicly funded academic establishment.

Ken Ham, president of Answers in Genesis writes,

"As you know, Darwinists have been expelling any hint of creation or intelligent design from public schools and research institutions.
Now many of them are expelling people from their academic posts in a desperate attempt to defend their evolutionary worldview.

I encourage you to visit
www.GetEXPELLED.com right now and discover more about this, entertaining, and enlightening film… You need to see how our education system is expelling freedom of speech—and then you should do something about it."

Christian media guru Phil Cooke says,

"This is an important film… regardless of your position on the issue [of Creationism vs. Evolution],
the producers look at freedom of speech, and how that freedom is being walled in and closed off is both frightening and alarming…

Studios and distributors make the decision on how long a movie stays in theaters based on the opening weekend box office. That’s why you should make plans now to see it the weekend of April 18th."

About Actor Ben Stein

Ben Stein is the lovable, monotone teacher from "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" and "The Wonder Years." Off camera he’s a lawyer, economist, former presidential speechwriter, author and social commentator. In this film he takes on one of life’s biggest questions, "Were we designed or are we simply the end result of an ancient mud puddle struck by lightening?"

Stein is stunned by what he discovered while making "Expelled." He met with a long line of biologists, astronomers, chemists and philosophers who claim that their reputations have been destroyed and their careers ruined by a dogmatic scientific establishment. Stein is outraged that the usual defenders of free speech allow absolutely no dissent from Charles Darwin’s theories of random mutation and natural selection. They are bent on silencing any competing theories such as Intelligent Design.

Interview: Ben Stein with Tom Neven of Family.org

"'I was horrified by the effects of social Darwinism,' Stein said. "It teaches that superior species would do everyone a favor if they just killed off all the inferior species. You can draw a straight line form this grandfatherly old man [Darwin] to Hitler and the Holocaust.'

Darwinism also has implication for moral reasoning, Stein stresses. 'Is all life random and we are all meaningless blobs, or is there moral meaning in the world? One of the people we interviewed postulated that there is no God. People like that idea, since if there’s no God, there’s no morality. Maybe they’re scared that if there’s some God, they’ll be held accountable. If there is a God, some of these guys had better watch out.'"

April 19, 2008. Expelled's Friday Night Box Office

"Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed made an estimated $1.2 million on its opening Friday night. It was only #14 in number of screens it was distributed to, but it was #8 in overall revenue, and #4 in per screen average. It seems to be on track to make about $3.5 million for the weekend, which would be 60% above expectations. Pretty good numbers for a documentary without major studio backing."

I just watched the trailer...looks great. Good to see the general public getting exposed to these must ask questions in our don't ask questions "free" society.

Thanks for doing this post.

I am SO excited about this movie. I have long been a fan of Ben Stein and his political views. I think it's important to note that he isn't merely taking on Darwinism, as the press is trying to spin it. He's taking on the suppression of free speech, something that is one of our fundamental rights in this country. Regardless of where you stand on the Creation/evolution debate, the fact that this kind of censorship is going on in this country should terrify people.

I, of course, am on the side of the Creationists! ;)

Yes it's true evolution does require a certain amount of faith to believe it, therefore one could call it's staunch adherents a 'church'. Lol.

It sounds a very interesting film indeed, has it sparked much interest outside the church?

DebD: Good for you! We're going on Friday. :~D

Sheila: Yes, the general public does need to know. I admit, the censorship by academics was not "news" to me. :~D

Jana: Points well taken: He's taking on the suppression of free speech, something that is one of our fundamental rights in this country. This IS scary... and of great interest to me too.

Kili: Thanks so much for commenting! :~D

Kristy Excellent! I hope you find the movie worthwhile.

Linnet: Actually, this is not a "Christian" documentary. (I believe Mr. Stein, the host is Jewish.) We'll see how the film does in the box office this weekend. That should answer your question. :~D

Can't wait to see this! The church of Darwin is right on - how much faith it takes to believe a lie.
Hey - just wanted to let you know that I am a comma and I posted my results. ( :

Have a blessed weekend!

I do think it is important to differentiate between social Darwinism and biological Darwinism. Lots of scientists are convinced by the theory of evolution but are horrified by social Darwinism.

Buffy: You make an excellent point. And thanks for bringing that up. We saw the film this past weekend, and we've been talking about it ever since. It's well worth anyone's time. :~D

We went to see Expelled on the day it opened. There were only about a dozen people in the theatre so I am glad to read your stats. We think it is well worth going to see.

This did not open close to my area but I can't wait to see it with the kids. Thanks for posting the review.

Patricia: We had a similar experience--a near empty theater. I've read stats elsewhere too since posting these, and they are very encouraging. BTW, nice to meet you!

Denise: I do hope you can go see it. Thanks for stopping to comment. :~D

Yes, I agree. It is becoming the church of Darwin. And Richard Dawkins seem to be his evangelist. He even wrote his own book about it. I saw this film after Miss Amanda wrote an in depth article on it at GGM.

A must see for EVERYONE in the world!

e-Mom said...

Sister Lisa: Yes, Richard Dawkins was interviewed in this film--and he mentions his book. It's hard to fathom atheism, isn't it? Thanks for stopping by.
